Some of the most satisfying creative work isn't a logo or a launch. It's making a business easier to run. That was the job at Milan Dragway — and the goal behind every piece of it was simple: get more people in the seats.
Milan Dragway, in Milan, Michigan, has been part of Midwest motorsports since 1963. For six decades it's been a fixture for grassroots racers and national touring events alike, drawing crowds from across Monroe County and well beyond. In 2025 the track was sold and now operates under new ownership as Darana Dragway.
We were introduced by Mickey York, owner and publisher of Cruis'n Media, who connected us with then-owners Pam and Perry. We came in as an on-call creative resource rather than on a fixed scope — whatever they needed support with, we were the go-to.
The central problem wasn't branding. It was maintenance. A racing venue runs a constantly moving schedule — events get added, rained out, rescheduled, and updated week to week — and every hour a schedule sits out of date is an hour that costs ticket sales. The website needed to be something the team could update themselves, quickly, without calling anyone.
So that's what we built toward. We restructured the event calendar and event pages so schedule changes could be made in minutes instead of becoming a project. Alongside that, we designed event flyers and social media content, and worked through their existing documents so everything read consistently and stayed on brand.
Every decision came back to the same three questions: does this make it easier to find an event, easier to understand it, and easier to buy a ticket?
The track changed hands in 2025 and our engagement ended with the sale. The calendar and event page structure we built is still in use today. Work that outlasts the engagement is its own kind of endorsement — and Pam and Perry were a genuine pleasure to work with throughout.
