Website Hosting, Domains & Maintenance Policy

Who owns the domain, who pays for hosting, what maintenance actually covers, and how a website leaves us if you do. This policy supplements the Terms and Conditions and the Client Access & Credentials Policy.
This policy applies to websites JpCS builds, hosts, maintains, or manages, and to the domains and hosting accounts attached to them.
Your domain name is registered in your business name, on an account you control, and it stays that way. A domain is the one asset a business genuinely cannot afford to lose, and it does not belong in a vendor’s account.
Where we register a domain on your behalf as part of getting a project moving, it is registered in your name and transferred to your control as part of delivery. We will manage renewals where you ask us to, but the registration, the ownership, and the renewal obligation remain yours. We will not hold a domain against an unpaid invoice.
If you are moving to us from another provider and are not certain who controls your domain, say so early. Finding out at launch is a bad time to find out.
Sites we build are hosted on Webflow. Hosting is arranged one of two ways, and which one applies is stated in your quote or Service Agreement:
Either way, the site itself is transferable to you, and Section 9 covers how that works.
A website goes offline when its hosting is not paid for. That is the platform enforcing its own billing, not a decision by JpCS, and it is not something we can override.
Where hosting is billed through us and an invoice goes unpaid, we will tell you before anything lapses rather than letting a site disappear without warning. Where hosting is on your own account, renewal notices come to you directly and are yours to act on.
A site taken offline for non-payment can normally be restored once billing is current. Domains are less forgiving — a lapsed registration can be bought by someone else, and recovery is sometimes impossible at any price.
Where a maintenance or care arrangement is in place, it covers:
Maintenance keeps an existing site working. It is not a standing allowance for new work. The following are quoted as projects in their own right:
Where a request sits on the line, we will tell you which side of it we think it falls on and what it would cost, before doing the work rather than after.
Webflow keeps its own version history of a site, and we can roll a site back to an earlier published version where that history reaches far enough. That history is the platform’s, with the platform’s limits, and it is not an unlimited archive.
Content you hold elsewhere — original photography, video, documents, copy — should be kept in your own storage as well. We are not a backup service for your source material, and we will tell you plainly if something you are relying on exists in only one place.
We do not offer an uptime guarantee, because we do not run the servers. Availability, performance, and the platform’s own outages are Webflow’s, and their status page is the authoritative record when something is down.
Webflow may also change its features, interface, or pricing without notice. Where a change affects your site, we will tell you what changed and what it means. Where it affects your cost, that is between you and the platform.
If you decide to take the site elsewhere, you take the site. There is no exit fee, no ransom, and nothing withheld beyond the deliverables described in Section 7.1 of the Terms and Conditions.
On request we will transfer the Webflow project to your own account, remove ourselves, confirm in writing what was transferred, and point your new provider at anything they will need to know. Where you are moving to a different platform entirely, we can export the content, though a Webflow site does not convert into another system without rebuilding, and we will be straightforward about that rather than implying a clean lift.
Where a site is handed off or an engagement ends, we retain our working files for a reasonable period in case you come back, and not indefinitely. If you want a copy of the project files for your own archive, ask at handoff and we will provide what the underlying licenses allow.
Sites we build are built to rank — structured correctly, written for the search terms that matter, and technically sound. That is the work, and it is what we are accountable for. Where a page lands in search results is decided by search engines applying criteria they do not publish and change without notice, and we do not guarantee a position, a traffic figure, or a ranking for any term.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, indicated by the “Last Updated” date above. Material changes affecting an active engagement will be communicated directly.
